Working With Communities

The District Attorney’s Office protects our communities by taking
dangerous criminals off the street. The best way to combat crime,
however, is to prevent it from happening in the first place. To that
end, the District Attorney’s Office is firmly committed to working
with the community, businesses, and other agencies to prevent crime
and to intervene early when wayward young people need guidance most.
The Community Prosecution Division works with police, local
officials, and residents of communities to develop strategies that
address gang activity and quality of life issues. The
Bureau of Community Relations implements programs to help
young people develop the skills necessary to succeed. Other
community oriented programs sponsored by the District Attorney’s
Office offer assistance to victims and combat a range of problems,
from school truancy to the passing of bad checks.
